I do love my Florida Keys. When I head down US#1 from Florida City and onto the first Keys causeway, I leave my worries behind me on the mainland.

And now, as I zip across the new grade separation of US#1 into Key Largo in January 2012, my thoughts are bittersweet. Sure, for the commerce side of things, higher speed highway access into the Florida Keys is a good thing. Easier access means more travelers, and more travelers means more money for the merchants, services and restaurants. Higher speed access means reduced costs for the big rigs that have to bring everything by road into the various Florida Keys.

Yet, I pine a bit for the older, slower, grander Keys. The Keys that came with the expectation that the journey down US#1 to Key West would be a long, slow one, with lots of time to see what was what. For me that journey was part of the charm. Yes, the Florida Keys are still absolutely marvellous. Yet I see a steady decline in the Key's lifestyle that is, after all, the reason why so many people love and return to the Florida Keys.

Still, through this website you too can experience some of the beauty and attractions of the Florida Keys before and after your visit. Enjoy!

All of the photos and slide shows on these pages (except if noted) are real photos, pictures that we took in and around our fabulous Florida Keys.

Nope, I haven't driven every road on the Keys, though I sure have tried.

I've been poking my nose into the Florida Keys wonderful diversity, trying to find those elusive places or services to make my Keys even more special every time I travel to my home in Florida's Caribbean.

I'll save you some of the time I've taken in searching for the new and interesting in the Florida Keys by writing about them on this website. I'll try to answer for you the many questions that I had before I started visiting this wonderful spot so many years ago.

I hope the information on this website accomplishes that goal. When you decide to visit, and note that I wrote when and not if, why not use the information on this website to make your planning and visiting easier?

Then you too can succumb to the Florida Keys Enchantment.
